Wow, what was it just now?
it's amazing
it's great
it's funny
it's beautiful
it's simply mind-blasting (I know it should be mind-blowing)
Oh, it's District 9
I first watched the trailer for D9 last week, when I got the chance to watch GI Joe
and honestly, that's one thing that prevented me from being overly-disappointed from the movie I was watching
it just gives me a sense of hope
huhu
that something great is coming
however I kept my hope stashed far away because I've learned that some trailers have made movies to seem way better than they actually are
but i just can't stop feeling that something good is coming, considering that it's produced by Peter Jackson (not directed)
Let me say this first
if you think that what I'm about to write here as spoilers, then I deeply say sorry
i tried very hard to not make this mistake
trust me
and even if there is (though unintentionally done) a spoiler or two, don't worry, rejoice, because you will still enjoy it as much as I do
because honestly I didn't see it coming
not at all
You see, in the trailer, earth is visited by a spaceship of aliens
after some time, the 'good' people in this planet decided bring them to the surface and provide them with 'assistance' and 'shelter'
simply put, offering them refuge
this at first generated a huge buzz around the world but after 20 years they are kinda forgotten
forgotten doesn't mean that they are gone or the story stops there, forgotten means the story becomes a little bit more interesting
These aliens, they are not entirely evil and cruel
they are described as workers, who have lost their leader and become disoriented and unmanageable
it's like when honey bees/ants losing their queen, making them clueless about their purpose
They end up living in a slum, people of Johannesburg don't want them and finally they are given a notice of eviction to another distict, District 10
this is why Wikus and his team are in the district, they are to serve and have each alien sign a copy of his eviction notice
then thing happened and from there it's a joy ride!
oh boy, I'm indeed walking on an eggshell here (but trust me, what you are guessing is wrong)
Enough of the story line,
graphics are amazing and beautiful
acting is nothing like ordinary (credits to Sharlto Copley)
Here is the trailer that makes me want to watch it so bad
This movie will be remembered, by me, at least
i hope there will be a sequel (I don't think so)
it's (again) great and important for Sci Fi freak like me

Definitely a 10/10 for me
I think they are or better, they might already been here before
i mean aliens or perhaps human, but from another planets
i've always been enthralled with the prospect that may be one day, we would discover another beings outside of our home planet
i don't really mind if they are intelligent or not
because for me, an encounter with other intelligent being would make things complicated
and as far as we all have known from our history, civilizations collide
and the collision is always triumphed by the strongest or more advanced
so I don't enjoy the possibility of us encountering another intelligent being
Why do I really think so?
ok, let me say this
when I say that they are coming I don't mean that they are going to come tomorrow
i'm just implying that they are coming one day
First possibility is as such
maybe they are just as advanced as us right now
and maybe one day the time will be right and ripe for their technology (and our technology hopefully) to allow them to pay us a visit
Secondly
maybe they are already on their way
but the journey would be very long
so they are still pretty much on the way
one would argue who can travel that long?
that would be a problem if we consider that their life span is the same as human
if red wood can live up to two thousand years
what's stopping other things to live longer?
Thirdly
maybe not now
maybe we're just too primitive for them to care about us
maybe they don't want to come, show themselves and disrupt our own steps towards development
maybe they fear in interfering they might change our history forever or end it without us reaching the height of our true potential as a civilization as a whole
huhu I hope they are considerate like this
Why I think that they are coming?
First
i think it's because this universe is so big
it would be a shame if there's no one else except us
it feels lonely if I think about it
i know that we just happen to be the third rock from the sun and that our position and distant from the sun is just nice to support life
but why can't the same coincidence happen somewhere else far away?
Second
if there's no evidence at all of beings outside of our planetary system
why is it governments are funding multi million dollar researches on such stuff?
isn't it an indication that there are some people high up who believes that extra terrestrial life forms do exists?
maybe all the weather balloons were just cover up stories to avoid panic and mass hysteria
but even so, for sure they can't resist on the prospect of meeting another life from outside our planet

i just wanted to share my understanding of what pun is and what does it mean by no pun intended
i didn't write these
i am just doing my job as a sharer

for example, I will quote this phrase to you: "the pun is mightier than the sword!"
we all know that the proper phrase is "the PEN is mightier than the sword"
the first phrase I quoted was a pun - a play on the word "pen"
What happens sometimes, and you will find this often in articles that are intended to be humorous, is that the phrase will be quoted with the added remark, "no pun intended"
eg: The pun is mightier than the sword. (no pun intended!)
It's really just a light-hearted way for the writer to acknowledge the fact that they have made a pun, but wasn't necessarily intended to come out that way

I felt kinda guilty about not doing a proper review for this great classic the last time I wrote about this book
it just doesn't feel just

When I was a lot younger, I remember watching an advertisement about a movie of the same name on TV and I promised myself that I'm going to watch it
sadly I haven't got the chance to
i don't remember why exactly but somehow I'm glad that I didn't
because right after reading the book I went straight to watch the movie
and the movie sucks big time

Lord of the Flies is a fiction written by William Golding (Click for biodata and other works) about boys who are stranded in an Island, tried to form a civilized community but succumbed to human nature, or just nature
This piece of art won Golding the Nobel Price for Literature in 1983, which I think is a just and sound choice made by the committee
I took this book and was unable to put it back down, which explains why it took me less than a day to finish reading it
after all, I don't have nothing to do now, so I can
the words used are not that hard to be understood and it's not that thick to begin with (compared to Harry Potter or Atlas Shrugged)
The author did a very good job in making this book sounds so not-for-kids
i don't know why but from the start I knew that this book is about stranded boys, but from the first moment I was also aware that this is not for kids at all
which makes me feel weird when the author say that it's a fable
cos I think this is definitely not Aesop's
i mean, if you read this, you are in for a shock

Thing that I loved most in this book is the allegory used by the author to convey his true messages
it fits so well and described perfectly
simply beautiful
it is just like in the Animal Farm by George Orwell, which is also a great book to read (10 out of 10!)

I think, to write more about this book will degrade it, so let me last say this
read this book, you won't be disappointed
but watch it you'll feel - what is this crap?
